Marty Rathbun’s descent into the abyss of insanity was by no means a sudden, over-the-edge plunge. Rather, his was a slow and inexorable slide into the depths of irreversible irrationality.

“Recent (investigation) revealed the source of special treatment being given to SPs (Suppressive Persons). It started with Marty Rathbun blowing the Sea Org on November, 1993. Marty took advantage of a number of false reports he had put in place over years giving a false picture as to his role in handling external attacks and the IRS in particular.

When one spends a lifetime conjuring lies, as Marty Rathbun has, it is totally in character to launch his own "liar-for-hire" media tour.

And, indeed, Marty Rathbun has done just that:

Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder teamed up to pass off the same stories to two media outlets—a tabloid newspaper and a tabloid television news show. The one inescapable fact that annihilates any semblance of credibility for either is best phrased as a question.

For anyone familiar with the personal interplay between Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder since they left the Church, you would think the two cohorts were the best of pals. Flying to each other's homes, wooing media outlets and staging outrageous stunts in an attempt to harass Scientologists—the duo seems all but inseparable.

One man is key to the media coverage ignited against the Church of Scientology: Mark “Marty” Rathbun. But who is this man, really, who is making these allegations?

Who is the man who has made so many allegations against the Church, and if he’s lying, as so many Church members say he is, then what in his background would make him do so?

Marty Rathbun postures about “family values” and calls his relationship with his only surviving brother, who is mentally challenged, “very close”—yet Marty hasn’t visited his brother in decades, not even when their father died.

Marty Rathbun and his anti-Scientology cronies portrayed themselves to their tabloid media sources as guardians of family values.

On July 3, 2010, Marty Rathbun’s anti-Scientology Posse gathered in Tarpon Springs, Florida, for a backyard barbecue. But after the guests settled in, it was announced the cookout would also serve as the setting for, of all things, Rathbun’s wedding.
